Calabria News

Calabria, wonderful land, perfect marriage between mountain and sea, between hill and plane, between costumes and traditions, between tastes and colours!

Calabria, extreme corner of paradise, cradle of Magna Grecia, that makes of the Tourism her point of strenght thanks to the splendour of her beaches, her sea, her fantastic panoramas...

Tourism in Calabria isn't only a resource for her local people...but also and above all the invitation to the persons that don't know this region, to begin a "full immersion" travel between natural and unknown paradises different from the remaining part of the italian coasts.

Not only summer: sea all the year in Calabria between wonderful panoramas and sunsets

From North to South. Calabria presents a coastline of 800 km about. Her coasts, only partially rocky, are for the largest part sandy. There are sandy stretches enlivened by dunes, especially where rivers and streams have generated coast planes and river deltas.

The Calabrian "tyrrhenian" coast is characterised by the intensity and the colours of a wild and wonderful nature, by white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. Here it's possible to savor the beauty of the blue-green shades of clear and deep sea stretches and breathe the unmistakable scent of the mediterranean undergrowth.

The "Ionic" side of Calabria's coast has different characteristics from those of the Tyrrhenian Sea, longer beaches, cooler waters but colours and landscapes equally spectacular and picturesque. Towards the Ionian coast descend the numerous "torrents" of Aspromonte.

Sea is the main touristic resource of Calabria. The most famous coast cities are: Tropea, Pizzo, Capo Vaticano, Reggio Calabria, Soverato, Scilla, Scalea, Sellia Marina, Montepaone, Montauro, Copanello, Palmi, Diamante, Paola, Fiumefreddo Bruzio, Amantea, Praia a Mare, Belvedere Marittimo, Roseto Capo Spulico, Corigliano Calabro, Cirò Marina, Amendolara and Roccella Ionica.

Calabria is a succession of white beaches, many of which have stretches of fine golden sand, which alternate with stretches of cliffs lapped by calm, warm waters.

From north to south, from east to west, from the Tyrrhenian to the Ionian Sea, are distinguished by beauty Caminia, Capo Rizzuto, Capo Vaticano, Diamond, Roccella Jonica, San Nicola Arcella, Soverato, Tropea just to mention the most famous.

Calabria is not only sea and beaches, it is also mountains and hills: to the north stands the Pollino Massif, and further down the Pateau of Sila, while to the south there is the impervious Aspromonte. On the mountains of Calabria rise important tourist centers with modern and advanced equipment for winter sports, but also for summer tourism. Among the tourist centers should be mentioned Camigliatello Silano, Lorica, Palumbo Village in Sila and Gambarie in Aspromonte.

Calabria has a rich hydrothermal heritage: "The Baths Sibaritide" with sulphurous waters very healing located in Cassano Allo Ionian; "Terme of Spezzano" that are placed in a spa park in the hills of the plain of Sybaris; "Terme Luigiane" known as the oldest spa near the Calabrian town of Acquappesa; the "Baths of Caronte" that arise in Lamezia Terme; the "Baths of Galatro" that are located in the homonymous municipality on the banks of the river Metramo in the province of Reggio Calabria and finally the "Baths of Antonimina" surrounded by vineyards and jasmine plants in the Municipality of Antonimina in the province of Reggio Calabria.
